Dave Franco Tells Us What It's Like To Audition To Play Han Solo

It was surprisingly chill

Disney and Lucasfilm are edging ever-closer to finding the perfect actor to fill young Han Solo's stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking shoes in the upcoming Star Wars anthology film from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Recently, a shortlist of actors were announced to be in the running for the meteoric part -- among them, some of young Hollywood's comedy elite, including Dave Franco.

MTV caught up with Franco while promoting his upcoming film Now You See Me 2 at CinemaCon on April 14, and the 30-year-old gave us that scoop on what it was like to audition for the role of a lifetime. As it turns out, what started as just another audition (yeah right) exploded into something bigger than Franco could have anticipated. "Everyone's coming up and being like, 'Dude, what's going on?' And I'm like, 'I don't know! You know as much as me,'" Franco said.

However, the actor did admit to putting his own twist on Han Solo during the audition. "I think that's the reason it's so hard to cast this role," he said. "Do they want someone to completely embody who Harrison Ford is? Or do they want to go a different route?"

Due to the top-secret nature of the project, Franco could still be in the running to portray the young captain of the Millennium Falcon in Lord and Miller's prequel. With that being said, can he finish the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs? We'll have to wait and see.
