Farm Aid Will Urge Donations To NYC Farmers Market Fund
Farm Aid 2001 is fine-tuning its efforts to help the farmers markets destroyed or displaced by the World Trade Center attack.
During the concert on Saturday in Noblesville, Indiana, viewers will be encouraged to donate to the Fund for World Trade Center Green Market Farmers. The money will help restore five farmers markets in lower Manhattan.
"We're just getting more specific about donating to the fund," Farm Aid Associate Director Glenda Yoder said. "We are using the Farm Aid platform to urge viewers to give directly to the fund. We will be publicizing the address at the press conference and during the broadcast."
Martina McBride will host the Farm Aid program, airing live on CMT at 4 p.m. ET and continuing until 10 p.m. Scheduled performers include Farm Aid founders Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp as well as Dave Matthews, Arlo Guthrie, Chris Knight and Acoustic Syndicate.
To donate, checks should be made out to the Fund for World Trade Center Green Market Farmers and mailed to:
