Chris Isaak Single, Video A Hit
"Somebody's Crying," the first single off Chris Isaak's new album,
Forever Blue, is a bittersweet pop song with 12 string guitar
that reminds us of his cover of Neil Diamond's "Solitary Man." It's
the best thing Isaak's done since "Wicked Game," and deserves to break
into the Top 10. The video just may do the trick. The California Girls
at the beach circa 1965 romanticism, complete with shots of Isaak
surfing and, toward the end, walking away with his board under his arm
as the surf washes up on the sand, is touching. At a time when many
rock videos are lamer than lame, Isaak has delivered a two minute, 46
second mini-movie that perfectly interprets the blue mood of his Only
the Lonely persona.
