Rihanna is one of music's top earners and she didn't get all of that bank by letting her dollars go unaccounted for. So on her new single, "Bitch Better Have My Money," the pop superstar is very direct with her message.

The phrase isn't new -- though the #BBHMM hashtag adds a very 2015 twist. Still, we remember hearing the pimpish phrase in Keenen Ivory Wayans' 1988 blaxploitation film spoof "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" and in rap songs by AMG, Ol' Dirty Bastard and Drake.

Now, Rihanna has taken the misogynistic lyric and reclaimed it for her own like the queen that she is. So while we're rocking out to Rih's new one, let's take a look at a brief history of "Bitch Better Have My Money."

"I'm Gonna Git You Sucka"

This scene in Keenen Ivory Wayans's 1988 comedy "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka" helped popularize #BBHMM and was a definite source of inspiration for Rih.

Big Daddy Kane

BDK's 1989 "Pimpin' Ain't Easy" is not the type of song you'd play around your mom. It's filled with all types of lyrics you should never say to a woman, but it makes the list because at the very end of the song, guest spitter Ant Live drops #BBHMM right before the beat cuts off.

AMG's "Bitch Betta Have My Money"

West Coast rapper AMG's 1991 "Bitch Betta Have My Money" is pretty harsh, that's why we posted the censored version. When it comes to that #BBHMM movement, AMG is a leader.

Ol' Dirty Bastard's "Got Your Money"

ODB's 1999 single "Got Your Money" was the stand-out off of his sophomore album and will forever be one of our favorites from Dirty.

Tyga's Version

In 2012, Tyga woke up, checked his bank account and teamed with YG and Kurupt to drop his own version of "Bitch Betta Have My Money." We wonder if he ever got it.

Drake's "Worst Behavior"

Drizzy wanted every bit of his change on "Worst Behavior," when he shouted "Bitch you better have my money when I come for the sh-t like ODB." Even we had to check and see if we owed him any dollars.
