If you're among the people who were surprised to hear of the impending collaboration between Missy Elliott and Scary Spice Mel B, you are not alone.

Both Missy and Mel B were enthusiastic and a little star struck by the prospect, and shared some of that energy with MTV News when we caught up with them recently.

[article id="1443479"]"She came into the studio that day, and I felt like a little groupie,"[/article] Missy told MTV News of her first meeting with Mel B on Monday.

[article id="1443479"]"There comes a point, a time, where no matter how large you are, there's certain people that you'll be like, 'Aww man, that's such and such.' [1MB QuickTime][/article] She'll probably never know, but in my mind, I was like, 'This is Scary Spice up in the studio!'

Well she just asked if I wanted to do it," Mel B remembered, "and I actually phoned up and I said, 'Are you sure she knows it's me? Are you sure she's got the right

person?' I phoned her up and she's like, 'Hi baby,' and all that. She's lovely.

The two have apparently gotten over their initial shock and are working together this week in the studio on a track called "I Think I Want You Back" for the soundtrack of "Why Do Fools Fall In Love," an upcoming Frankie Lymon biopic. The soundtrack is due out in September, while the movie is expected to arrive in October.
