Usher says don't blame him for the long delay in releasing his third studio album, All About U — blame Napster.

"After my music was released to Napster, I didn't think that was fair," the singer/actor said recently at the taping of the "mtvICON: Janet Jackson" special. "I didn't want that to be the way my record was remembered or the way I would present that to my fans."

So Usher decided to go back into the studio and record more tracks, songs he said he hopes will stay away from the file-sharing service. "It turned out a lot better," he said, adding that some of the tracks that have been available on Napster for months won't show up on the final version.

Originally set to come out October 31, the album was pushed back to December 5. It's now set to come out July 17. Usher's most recent album was 1999's Live.

Representatives for Napster and the singer's label, LaFace, had no comment. Songs listed on the original All About U track list — including "T.T.P.," "U Are the One" and the single "Pop Ya Collar" — were available for download on Napster Tuesday (March 13). The final track list has not been determined, according to LaFace.

For All About U, Usher collaborated with Jermaine Dupri, Babyface and Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs, who produced "Pop Ya Collar."

Usher has a starring role in "Texas Rangers," a Western scheduled for summer release that also stars James Van Der Beek, Rachael Leigh Cook and Dylan McDermott. But don't expect to see him on the silver screen after that. With roles in "She's All That," "Light It Up" and "The Faculty" in the past two years, he said he's back to focusing on music now.

"I'm building myself as an artist, singer, dancer, R&B king," he said.
