September 12 [7:55 EDT] -- Mattel has finally had enough of Aqua's hit "Barbie Girl.

[article id="1424997"]As we reported Tuesday[/article], the toy company feels the song takes some liberties with the image of their "Barbie" institution, and now word comes that Mattel has filed a federal lawsuit against the band, claiming that the song is a violation of the company's trademark.

According to Reuters news service, Mattel filed the suit Thursday in Los Angeles' U.S. District Court, and are seeking unspecified damages. The company also wants all copies of the song and its video recalled.

Mattel's biggest beef is reportedly with the "sexual and other unsavory themes" the song associates with their big-busted doll as the group sings "Kiss me here, touch me there" and "I'm a blond bimbo girl in a fantasy world" in the top ten hit.

Earlier this week, a spokesperson for the toy company told MTV News, "If Aqua or anybody else is interested in dancing

with Barbie dolls, they're going to have to ask us first.

For their part in the matter, Aqua spokespeople point to the fact that a disclaimer in the CD's liner notes says that the song is intended as a "social comment.
