Stellan Skarsgard Cast In 'Thor' Movie

According to Swedish news site Ystads Allehanda, Skarsgard—who is perhaps best known in America for his turn as Bootstrap Bill Turner in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” film series—confirmed the information in an interview with The Newspapers' Telegram Bureau. However, Skarsgård did not reveal which character he would be playing.

ComingSoon.net has posted a rough translation of Skarsgard’s remarks.

"They wanted me to sign without reading the script,” Skarsgård explained. “That I refused to do. Then they sent one to me that was so coded that I could only print one copy."

With most of the roles in director Kenneth Branagh’s “Thor” adaptation already filled by it’s not immediately clear which role Skarsgard will step into.

Skarsgard’s son, Alexander Skarsgard was one of the final actors considered to play Thor prior to Chris Hemsworth’s casting.

“Thor” is scheduled to hit theaters in May, 2011.

Who do you think Stellan Skarsgard will portray in the “Thor” movie? The fire giant Surtur, the noble Heimdall or perhaps even a Frost Giant? Let us know what you think in the comment section or on Twitter!
