'Last Airbender' Star Noah Ringer Joins 'Cowboys And Aliens' Cast

According to Variety, Noah Ringer has signed on to appear in "Cowboys & Aliens" alongside Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde. Ringer will be making his film debut later this year as Aang in director M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming adaptation of "The Last Airbender."

Earlier this year, Craig and Wilde were cast as Zeke Johnson and Ella, respectively. It is currently unknown which characters Ringer and Ford will portray within the film.

"Cowboys & Aliens" follows a group of gunslingers and Apache Indians who unite against an alien invasion in the old west and is based upon the 2007 graphic novel of the same name by writers Fred Van Lente & Andrew Foley and artists Dennis Calero & Luciano Lima. The concept was created by Platinum Studios chairman Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci — the screenwriting duo behind "Star Trek," "Transformers" and "Fringe" — are adapting the "Cowboys & Aliens" script with "Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof. The film's story is reportedly "radically different" from the original graphic novel.

"Cowboys & Aliens" is set to begin shooting this summer, possibly in 3D. The film rides into theaters on July 29, 2011.
