Willem Dafoe's days in the "Spider-Man" universe are long behind him — but not so behind him that he isn't at least a little disturbed by the swiftness of the new "Amazing Spider-Man" series.

"I saw a trailer for the first 'Spider-Man' reboot and I thought, 'This is crazy! It's not shot for shot, but it's the same story,'" the former Norman Osborn told Total Film during a recent interview. "I thought, 'This is sort of a cynical approach to making money!'"

Dafoe isn't alone in his critical view on the new "Spider-Man" movies. James Franco gave us his review of the movie earlier in the year, branding it with a big, fat, "Eh!"

"I mean, they could have strayed a little bit more from the original," he said. "It was like, why? Well, I guess they made a lot of money. Congrats. Good for them."

Franco didn't have much of an opinion on Dane DeHaan taking over the role of Harry Osborn, either. Likewise, it appears Dafoe isn't losing sleep over Chris Cooper coming into the role of Norman Osborn.

"You know, in the theater, people play the same role all the time," he reasoned. "I don't know anything about it, really."

Spider-Fans get to see the new Osborn boys make their debut in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," which opens on May 2nd, 2014.
