Drake Gets A High-Speed Tribute From An Awesome Sketch Artist

There are rare occasions when a hip-hop artist resonates so deeply with an audience. But Drake is clearly one of those guys. Not only has he gained thousands of fans via his killer mixtape work and his recently-released debut album Thank Me Later, Drizzy has inspired the sort of passionate response that is usually reserved for artists who aren't as nearly down-to-Earth as the 23-year-old Canadian. The most recent tribute to Drake came via Your.MTV.com, where 19-year-old artist Denzel Seals posted a high-speed sketch of the rap world's biggest name at the moment.

"The sketch took around three and a half to four hours," Seals told MTV News. "I used a lot of detail. I first used pencil and then I got in with the charcoal and heavier values of pencils."

Art is a passion for Seals, who grew up in Baltimore and is currently studying graphic design and digital arts at Rutgers. "I've been drawing since I was six -- the 'Dragonball Z' days, the 'Pokemon' days," he said. "Right now I'm in college trying to hone my skills."

It's not the first time Seals has put his art online either. He has uploaded a number of his projects to his YouTube page, including a portrait of Martin Luther King and a face-to-face sketch of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. "People see my work and ask me to do portraits or design tattoos," he said. In addition to those projects, he's also working on a T-shirt line and is contemplating a comic book.

But his work on the Drake sketch was clearly personal. "I did Drake because I can relate to him," he said. "I have all his albums. It was like I had to."

Seals' commitment to detail paid off, as the final product gets Drake down to his most prominent detail. "He has world class eyebrows," he said.
