Tripping Daisy Guitarist's Death Ruled OD
Band organizing two benefits for Wes Berggren's parents this weekend.
Tripping Daisy guitarist Wes Berggren died last month from
an accidental overdose of cocaine, propoxyphene and benzodiazepine, the
Dallas medical examiner ruled Wednesday (Nov. 10). Berggren, who was 28,
was found in his Dallas apartment Oct. 27. Concerts Friday and Saturday
in Dallas originally planned as Tripping Daisy shows will now be benefits
for Berggren's parents, the band said in an e-mail announcement. Local
bands will play each night, with members of Tripping Daisy — who had
a 1995 rock hit with "I Got a Girl" — spinning familiar tracks,
acoustic songs, unreleased work and demos between sets.
