All Kim Kardashian West wants is for her two children -- 3-year-old North and 8-month-old Saint -- to grow up "knowing that their lives matter." On Friday (July 8), the reality star penned a thoughtful response to the recent shooting deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile that called for an end to the senseless violence against innocent black men.

"I do not ever want to have to teach my son to be scared of the police, or tell him that he has to watch his back because the people we are told to trust — the people who ‘protect and serve' — may not be protecting and serving him because of the color of his skin," Kardashian wrote in a post titled "#BLACKLIVESMATTER" on her website.

She also echoed the sentiment on Instagram, where she posted a simple yet poignant message to her followers: "This must end now!"

"The last thing we need is to fuel anger with more hate or violence, especially toward the many incredible police officers who risk their lives every single day to protect our families and communities," Kardashian continued, seemingly referencing the deaths of five Dallas police officers late Thursday night. "We must peacefully use the power of our voices and the strength of our numbers to demand changes in the judicial system so that brutality doesn't ever go unpunished."

She ended her statement with an urgent plea to readers to contact their local legislators to help "create a safe future for our children." Regardless of your feelings toward the Kardashians, don't be too quick to dismiss Kim's message. As the mother of young biracial children, she's just as desperate for change as the rest of us. At least now she knows that "hashtags are not enough."
