Lauryn Hill Draws Puffy, Rosie, Mary J. To New York Homecoming

Lauryn Hill made a triumphant return to her homebase of New York City Tuesday night when she brought her "Miseducation" tour to the theater at Madison Square Garden.

Sean "Puffy" Combs and Rosie O'Donnell attended the sold out show, which included a surprise appearance by Mary J. Blige, who joined hill onstage for their duet "I Used To Love Him.

Hill's show featured a full band as well as a DJ, and at one point included a "battle" between the two. The moment illustrated the blend of R&B, reggae, and hip-hop that has made Hill the acclaimed artist she is.

[article id="1440116"]"I enjoy exploring and if it opens what hip-hop is up to more people, that's good too,"[/article] Hill recently explained to MTV Europe. [article id="1440116"]"Then perhaps they'll understand, you know, the hip-hop nation and the hip-hop community. Those people who grew up in certain communities, maybe they'll understand us a little bit more, and that's a great thing."
