Avril Lavigne and Nickleback's Chad Kroeger have decided to part ways after two years of marriage, the "Complicated" singer said on Instagram.

Avril made the announcement with picture of her and her ex on their wedding day, thanking fans for their support and insisting that they will always be the "best of friends." Cue the tears.

"It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today," she wrote. "Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support."

Avril, dressed all in black, tied the knot with the Nickleback frontman back in July of 2013 in front of 50 guests at a castle in the south of France.

The two have brushed off divorce rumors in the past and reportedly just purchased a $5.4 million home in Sherman Oaks, California. Avril was also spotted wearing her wedding ring when she joined Taylor Swift on stage last week during her 1989 World Tour.

It hasn't been an easy year for Avril, who has been suffering from Lyme Disease since 2014, which had left her bed ridden, calling it the “literally the worst time of my life."

"Lyme disease does exist. And you can get better.” Avril, who is halfway through her treatment and is expected to make a full recovery, told "Good Morning America." “I think for me it’s like a second chance at life. I want to go out there and truly do what I love. I’m excited for life after this.”

This is the first marriage for Chad and the second for Avril who split from Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley in 2009.
