Project Pat 'Sippin' On' Next Album

Memphis rapper returns with Mista Don't Play, due February 27.

Now that Project Pat has helped push Three 6 Mafia to platinum status via his appearance on the group's "Sippin' on Some Syrup" single, the Memphis rapper wants to sip on his own success.

Pat is preparing for his second major-label release, Mista Don't Play, which is scheduled to arrive in stores on February 27. The follow-up to 1999's Ghetty Green is anchored by the single "Chickenhead," which features vocals from La Chat as well as Three 6 Mafia's DJ Paul and Juicy "J."

While his latest single is garnering Pat plenty of attention in cities such as Atlanta and Memphis, his distinctive flows are what have made him a favorite among Southern hip-hop fans. Other Southern rappers have been inspired to imitate Pat's signature style, in which he accentuates a word's final syllable.

Pat constantly updates his style, regularly experimenting with new deliveries. "I owe that to my brother Juicy 'J'," Pat said, "because he is the one that tells me to do that. Juicy tells me to change my style all the time, and I just listen and do it.

"I'm just a soldier," he continued. "I can come up with a little twist here and there, like anybody can."

Along with the release of Mista Don't Play, Pat will be raising his profile with an appearance in Three 6 Mafia's "Choices" movie, which he co-wrote. The direct-to-video release is expected to be out this summer.
