Matt Sharp Finally Ready To Deliver New Rentals Record

While it seems that Matt Sharp has been working on the second Rentals' album longer than George Lucas has been working on the new "Star Wars" film, the former Weezer bassist has finally announced an April 13 release date for the new Rentals record, "Seven More Minutes."

Apparently it was the rather unorthodox way in which the new Rentals album was recorded that caused the three and a half year break between "Seven More Minutes" and the release of the group's 1995 debut, "Return of the Rentals."

Unlike the first album, which Sharp and Weezer drummer Patrick Wilson cut along with a few studio friends, "Seven More Minutes" finds the Rentals line-up de-evolving into an even looser collective of musicians anchored around Sharp.

Artists ranging from Blur's Damon Albarn and Elastica's Donna Matthews to Lush's Miki Berenyi and Ash's Tom Wheeler played on the new record, the sessions for which were held over a two-year period in studios across Barcelona, Spain, London, Los Angeles,

New York and Boston.

No word yet on a potential first single or video from "Seven More Minutes," but we'll keep you posted.
