After killing Peter Parker earlier this summer in "Ultimate Spider-Man" — a comic book series that takes place in a parallel universe to the proper Marvel Universe — writer Brian Michael Bendis is introducing a new Spidey in the form of Miles Morales, a half black and half Hispanic successor to the superhero.

Though Glover's famous Spider-Man campaign didn't win him the job or initiate the creation of Miles, Bendis is giving "mucho credit" to the "Community" star for the way Miles looks in this week's introductory issue, "Ultimate Fallout" #4.

"He looked fantastic," Bendis told USA Today about Glover's brief appearance wearing Spider-Man pajamas in an episode of "Community," adding, "I saw him in the costume and thought, 'I would like to read that book.' So I was glad I was writing that book."

Little is known about Miles just yet beyond his status as the new "Ultimate Spider-Man" star, his ethnic background, that he'll be receiving "nuggets of wisdom" from familiar characters like Aunt May and Gwen Stacy, and the fact that if he's ever introduced in the movies he better be played by Glover or else I'll explode. Aside from all of that, Bendis did offer this summary of what Miles represents to Marvel Comics and the superhero scene overall.

"What you have is a Spider-Man for the 21st century who's reflective of our culture and diversity. We think that readers will fall in love with Miles Morales the same way they fell in love with Peter Parker."
