If you're a subscriber of Empire Magazine and you're eagerly awaiting the next issue, then be warned: the limited edition collector's cover will probably give you killer clown nightmares. You know, because there's a killer clown on it.

But not just any killer clown! The December issue prominently features the long-anticipated "Suicide Squad" movie, and depicts Jared Leto in the best look at The Joker we've gotten since the movie's teaser was leaked earlier this year. So much for all the haters who say the DC movies are too grim and somber -- this one's gonna have a lot of color.

The image, which will probably be officially released online in hi-res glory later this week, shows The Joker in a full length purple coat (with matching cane, naturally) and sweatpants that read "Arkham" on the side -- and yeah, he's still shirtless. How else are we supposed to see all of his terrifying tattoos?

Also featured are images of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn (both stuck in prison and in her pre-Joker psychologist days, below), Viola Davis assembling the Suicide Squad as Amanda Waller, and the mysterious Enchantress, as played by Cara Delevingne.

The magazine also reveals that Joker's look was inspired by Mexican cartels, according to producer Charles Roven, and Leto himself discussed what it was like to play the Clown Prince of Crime in an exclusive interview.

"There was definitely a period of...detachment," Leto explained, saying that he'd often call actor Jim Parrack (who plays his henchmen, Johnny Frost) and order him to do weird stuff like spray-paint roses black. "I took a pretty deep dive. But this was a unique opportunity and I couldn't imagine doing it another way. It was fun, playing those psychological games. But at the same time it was very painful, like giving birth out of my prick hole."

Yikes, that's pretty -- um, graphic. But don't ever try to ask The Joker himself for clarification on that imagery. "I was just thinking that The Joker would probably just say, ‘f--k you,’ and hang up,” he joked.
