Stone Temple Pilots Prepare New Single, Video

The Stone Temple Pilots' current radio hit, "Heaven & Hot Rods," has gone without a video counterpart, though that won't be the case for the group's next single.

The group has slated the song "Sour Girl" as the next release from its album "No. 4," and a spokesperson for STP confirmed to MTV News that the bandmembers are currently considering various storyboards and directors for an accompanying video. The band is expected to be in front of the cameras sometime in the next four weeks.

Contrary to previous reports, however, the band is not scheduled to play the South By Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas, in March. The spokesperson said that STP was never confirmed for the conference and that its inclusion on the official SXSW performers list was a mistake. A showcase featuring other bands from the same management roster, including the Screaming Trees, was originally planned for the event; that, too, is no longer the case.

Meanwhile, singer Scott Weiland

and his fiancée Mary Forsberg recently paid an impromptu visit to the official STP Web site's live chat room and told a handful of fans that the group may play some one-off surprise shows in Los Angeles and that the band is also considering the giant annual Washington, D.C.-area HFStival in May.

Weiland also imparted that he is signing a hip-hop act to his own Lavish Records label, but he didn't name the artist.

The band spokesperson had no knowledge of the chat and declined to confirm or deny the report.
