After word spread last week that two music superstars, [artist id="976"]Mariah Carey[/artist] and frequent Tyler Perry collaborator [artist id="1090"]Janet Jackson[/artist], were [article id="1634610"]being considered for the director's next film[/article], "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf," fans wondered if the rumors could be true. And on Wednesday, while promoting "Why Did I Get Married Too?," Perry confirmed the casting news.

However, Perry pointed out that other women who have been rumored to be attached to the flick, like Halle Berry and Jill Scott, are still just rumors. "Let me tell you the cast," he said, with "Why Did I Get Married Too?"[article id="1635214"] star Jackson[/article] by his side. "It's Janet, Mariah, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, Loretta Devine," he said, adding that Anika Noni Rose has also been added.

"I don't want to forget anybody," he continued. "It's pretty incredible." He also confirmed that the flick would be shot in New York City this summer. "[We'll be wrapping up] by the end of the summer," he said, with an expected release in late 2010 or early 2011.

"For Colored Girls" is the film adaptation of Ntozake Shange's 1975 play, which is based on a series of 20 poems about a woman who is identified with a single color of the rainbow. The stories deal with a wide spectrum of topics including love, abandonment, rape and abortion.

"Making a film of 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf' is a dream come true for me," Perry has previously said. "Ntozake Shange's play is a magnificent tribute to the strength and dignity of women of color, and I think audiences of all generations will be able to recognize and embrace the experiences these women represent. Creatively, this movie is one of the most exciting undertakings of my career."
