'Guardians Of The Galaxy': Michael Rooker Happy To Have Marvel Pay His Mortgage

by Brett White

Will he was initially pegged as Rocket Raccoon in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Walking Dead" star Michael Rooker ended up landing a role that requires more than just his voice—he is Yondu Udonta, one of the original Guardians from the Marvel comics. Rooker's been spotted on set in his new blue-skinned persona, surrounded by just the exact right amount of carnage for Rooker.

Guard the Galaxy reported that the actor recently took over the Twitter account for Valhalla Entertainment, where he then answered a few questions from fans looking for answers. For those of you wondering why Rooker hopped on board a Marvel movie, Rooker has your answer: "I'm in a Marvel movie and its paying my mortgage right now. Love Marvel. S---Yes!!!!!!"

Rooker also revealed that Yondu's blue paint is not a body suit like Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique, and that it takes him "about an hour and a half and two more days to make sure" to make sure it's all gone.

The actor also revealed how he first heard about the role:
