Lana Del Rey Looks Pretty, Doesn't Cry In 'Pretty When You Cry' Teaser

Watch the sultry singer's new video sneak peek.

On the eve of the U.S. release of Lana Del Rey's third studio album, Ultraviolence, she of the unfaltering gaze has teased what appears to be a video for "Pretty When You Cry" on Instagram.

After some footage of a wildfire raging in the distance, the clip cuts to a close-up on Lana, who wonders: "All the pretty stars shine for you, my love/ Am I that girl that you dream of?" The vocals are so fragile, as if they might fall apart at any moment -- a conscious decision on Lana's part. "I didn’t even think to go back and fix it,” she told The New York Times, “because if you know the story behind it, then you can tell why it was sung that way.”

While the "Shades Of Cool" teaser on Friday (June 13) struck me as very "Lolita"-meets-"Wild Things," this "Pretty When You Cry" visual is giving me some major "Thérèse Desqueyroux" vibes. Maybe it's the wildfire, maybe it's the fact that I just watched the 2013 Audrey Tautou adaptation of the French novel a few weeks ago. Either way, I can't wait to see the finished product.
