Nicki Minaj Talks Differences Between Britney Spears, Lil Wayne Tours

Female rapper Nicki Minaj is a do it all high-octane performing machine who knows how to work a room. Hip-Hop's reigning queen recently kicked off her joint "Femme Fatale" tour with pop sensation Britney Spears and is highly appreciative of the energy she's been receiving from her passionate audience after the first few nights. In her first interview since the tour launch, Nicki opened up about the unforgettable experience she's witnessed thus far.

"Well, initially, what I thought was I hope this audience will appreciate what I do" Nicki told the Los Angeles Times. "What I first dealt with was a bit of the unknown. Is this something that Britney’s crowd will even enjoy? But it all went away the first night. I stood in the transporter, that big prop that we have on the stage, and I could not believe the crowd reaction before they even saw me. It was very emotional for me."

Coming off her first major tour sharing a bill alongside Young Money captain Lil Wayne on his "I Am Still Music" trek was a major test Nicki undoubtedly passed with flying colors. With Wayne, Minaj was right at home performing in front of her core audience every night but a tour with the pop princess was initially perceived to be a vastly different experience for the Queens MC. However, so far the challenge was once again conquered as the audience is loving every bit of Nicki Minaj no matter who she's on stage with.

"So far, the I was so shocked" said Nicki. "I thought, OK, on the Wayne tour, this is my audience, everyone that knows Wayne, they know Nicki Minaj. When I heard those screams, it was one of the best feelings in the world. It changed overnight. I’m pleasantly surprised with the people coming out on this show; they generally are coming out not to critique, but to have fun. The hip-hop community tends to be more critical. On this stage, I felt a little bit more free."
