Bruce Kulick, who played guitar with Kiss from 1984 to 1995, was shot in the right leg late Wednesday night in front of the Rainbow Bar and Grill in Hollywood. A second bullet grazed the left side of his head, police said. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and was sent home at 5:37 a.m. A second, unidentified victim who was shot in the foot was also treated.

The alleged gunman is currently in police custody.

The shooting occurred at 1:20 a.m. following a heated argument outside the club, police said. Minutes after the altercation, the 21-year-old suspect returned with a 9-mm handgun and started firing indiscriminately into a crowd in front of the club and the restaurant's outdoor patio. Kulick, who was standing in front of the club at the time, was not the intended target of the shooting, according to police.

The alleged gunman, whose name police have not yet determined, was tackled by a club patron who witnessed the shooting and ran into the street to intervene. The man wrestled the gun away from the suspect and held him on the ground. Before police arrived, the accused gunman was beaten up by several members of the crowd.

The suspect was then taken to a local hospital where he was treated for minor head wounds. He was later booked for assault with a deadly weapon, according to West Hollywood police.

Kulick will require some physical therapy for his leg but is expected to make a full recovery, according to his publicist.

"I'm very grateful for the immediate response of both the crowd and the doctors, and -- obviously -- the EMS crews," Kulick said. "I'm fine and very thankful to be alive."

The guitarist had come to the Rainbow Bar and Grill after seeing former Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil perform next door at the Key Club earlier that evening.

He plans to play with Grand Funk at a benefit show for the Safe Harbor Animal Rescue & Clinic in Jupiter, Florida, on November 8.
