Master P Holds Strong During Preseason Games With Raptors

After only two preseason appearances with the Toronto Raptors, rapper-sportsman Master P appears to be holding his own in NBA training camp and may be developing into a three-point threat from the outside.

Even though P has only played in two of the Raptors' four preseason games to date (and a total of ten minutes in those contests), the rapper -- who goes by Percy Miller in the NBA -- has managed three for eight from the field with one rebound, three turnovers, and four personal fouls.

On Monday, the Toronto Raptors' rookie scored eight points during a 110-84 victory over the Vancouver Grizzlies, as Miller made two three-point shots as well as one driving layup during limited playing time.

Miller had failed to score during his first preseason appearance in the Raptors' 102-112 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on October 15. Master P did not play during last night's 100-95 win against Denver.

Earlier this year, P appeared close to fulfilling his hoop dreams

with the Charlotte Hornets, but he was cut right before the abbreviated season began (see [article id="1431938"]"Master P Dropped By Charlotte Hornets"[/article]).

During a recent break from a video shoot, the rap entrepreneur and athlete told MTV News that he's ready to go the distance and don the team's newly redesigned uniform.

[article id="1447852"] "I'm about to go back to basketball now,"[/article] Miller said prior to reporting to camp. [article id="1447852"] "I'm on my way to Toronto, with me and Vince Carter, you know what I'm saying. It's about to go down this year. Y'all know what happened last year, and I'm not coming home [this time]. I'm getting a guaranteed contract. I've worked on my game, and I've done everything I needed to do. I made the final cut last year. This year I'm gonna be in the top ten." [RealVideo][/article]

Although no cuts have been made to the 16-man squad thus far, the Raptors are only

able to keep twelve men on the team's regular season roster, plus three on the injured list. The final cut is expected to be made on November 1, the day before the Raptors open their season against the Boston Celtics at the Air Canada Centre.

Meanwhile, the Raptors are scheduled to play their next preseason game on Thursday night against the Dallas Mavericks.
