DFX: Cypress Hill Blows Up Third Annual "Smoke Out"
Smokin' MC B-Real and his Cypress Hill compatriots hosted their third annual Smoke Out festival on Saturday at the National Orange Show Events Center in San Bernadino, California.
The event brought out a diverse lineup of some 50 artists including Xzibit, Redman, System Of A Down, Gang Starr, Pennywise, Long Beach Dub All-Stars, DJ Tony Touch, 311, and the Funky Tekno Tribe.
[article id="1442349"]"There's everybody from every different sort of genre of music, every sort of fan base."[/article] said B-Real of what sets Smoke Out apart from other festivals. [article id="1442349"]"You got the hardcore, alternative, rock -- whatever you wanna call it -- fan base. You got the hip-hop people here, the stoners, and everybody in between.[/article]
[article id="1442349"]"I think that's why it's so cool,"[/article] he added. [article id="1442349"]"We just set up our festival a little different
from everybody else." [RealVideo][/article]
One of those differences is the festival's annual surprise "4:20" act, with Limp Bizkit filling the slot this year (though the group did not appear onstage at the traditional smoke-'em-if-you-got-'em time). The festival's previous surprise acts include Everlast and Fear Factory in 1999 and Black Eyed Peas in 1998.
Next up on Cypress Hill's itinerary is a road trip with the Offspring and MxPx, which kicks off on November 17 in Anaheim, California.
