Johnny Depp Reveals His Favorite Superhero

Depp isn't ignorant of comics however, and he was actually once quite the fan, as he revealed in a recent interview.

"I was a rock ‘n’ roll kid, mainly, but prior to age 12, when the rock ‘n’ roll sort of took hold, I was a comic-book head," he said in an interview with Hero Complex. "I liked Sgt. Rock. And I loved the Sub-Mariner. I loved Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner."

Depp is in good company. Legendary actor and filmmaker Clint Eastwood is also a fan, and has professed to wanting to take the superhero role in the past.

"Really, [Eastwood] like Namor? Wow. That's cool," said Depp upon hearing of the shared interest. "Namor is great. There was this strange double edge to the guy. And there was also something about living underwater that I liked a lot."

Depp also admitted that he enjoyed Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, though not so much Captain America. The Atlantean prince was always his favorite though, alongside DC Comics' Sgt. Rock.

"I really liked Sgt. Rock. But the Sub-Mariner, he was the alternative one," he said. "The alt-superhero. He was the sort of Bohemian comic book. I like that."
