Tripping Daisy guitarist and pianist Wes Berggren was found dead at his home in Dallas on Wednesday by his wife, Melissa. Berggren, a founding member of Tripping Daisy, was 28 years old.

Authorities have yet to determine a cause for Berggren's death, although a homicide detective told "The Dallas Morning News" that they didn't suspect any foul play in the case and would await the results of a toxicology report before making an official determination.

Berggren helped form Tripping Daisy in Dallas back in 1991 with vocalist Tim DeLaughter and bassist Mark Pirro. Along with drummer Bryan Wakeland, the band released its first album, "Bill," on an independent label, Dragon Street Records, in 1992, before signing a major-label deal with Island Records.

Tripping Daisy issued two albums via Island, 1995's "I Am An Elastic Firecracker," which spawned the minor hit "I Got A Girl," and 1998's critically acclaimed "Jesus Hits Like The Atom Bomb."

Island subsequently dropped the

band that same year, although Tripping Daisy started its own label, Good Records, in early 1999 and planned to issue a fourth, self-titled album on January 15, 2000.

Memorial services for Berggren are being held on Saturday morning at the Unity Church of Christianity in Dallas.
