Dave Matthews Band Fined For Breaking Curfew In Colorado
Dave Matthews did it. Guilty as charged. He went too far on a musical journey last week and had to pay the price.
Matthews and his band played 15 minutes past the10:30 p.m. curfew on Wednesday at Folsom Stadium in Boulder, Colorado, and were fined $15,000 — $1,000 a minute — by Colorado University.
The fine would have escalated to $10,000 a minute after 10:45 p.m. under a contract the band had with the school, according to the Associated Press. The band and promoters grossed about $2 million from the show, while CU netted at least $133,000. The fine will help pay for any overtime for hourly
employees at the venue.
Dave Matthews Band's publicist said the band was having a great time and wanted to play a little longer than normal, and called the fine a standard fee.
DMB's tour hits the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Selma, Texas, on Tuesday (July 17) (see [article id="1441703"]"Dave Matthews Band Extends Summer Tour"[/article]).
