Moviegoers Neglect 'Jennifer's Body' And Enjoy A 'Meatballs' Hero In The Sunday Box Office Report!

2. "The Informant!" ($10.5 million)

3. "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" ($10 million)

4. "Love Happens" ($8.4 million)

5. "Jennifer's Body" ($6.8 million)

Unsurprisingly -- particularly given its $8 million intake on Friday -- "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" is the clear-cut winner at the box office this weekend. After outgrossing the competition by almost $5 million on Friday, the Bill Hader-starring "Meatballs" went on to sweep the weekend with a healthy $30.1 million serving. Deadline Hollywood Daily reports that the animated family film's final box office intake is greater than initially forecasted at the weekend's outset thanks largely to families churning out for Saturday matinees.

The weekend's other new releases didn't fare nearly as well. The Matt Damon-starring "The Informant!" held onto second place, earning $4.5 million on Saturday for a $10.5 million weekend total. Deadline Hollywood points out that the Steven Soderbergh-directed picture was fairly cheap to produce with its $22 million budget, but some extra costs could come in the form of marketing -- in other words, "The Informant!" isn't entirely out of the financial woods yet.

Tyler Perry's "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" continued to perform well after its unanticipated box office supremacy last weekend, this time scoring third place with a $10 million intake. The Perry-starring/directing feature has earned $37.9 million since its debut last weekend.

"Love Happens" earned fourth place with only $8.4 million, a disappointing result considering the film's typically lucrative leading actors Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart. But a studio insider points out to Deadline Hollywood that "anything over $7.5M puts the studio in a position to make a tidy return on its investment. This is because the studio has limited exposure on this film. The negative cost was covered via foreign pre-sales. Not a financial flop by any means."

On the flop side is "Jennifer's Body," the Megan Fox-starring horror film that Movies Blog readers pegged as their most anticipated release of the weekend. The movie only earned fifth place with $6.8 million by weekend's end, which might have something to do with poor reviews -- over at Rotten Tomatoes, the film has only scored a 42% fresh rating. Not a great result for Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody's second produced screenplay.
