Bebe Rexha has already written a slew of massive hit songs (including Eminem and Rihanna's "The Monster"); served as the frontwoman for Pete Wentz's Black Cards and now, the 24-year-old is ready to take the world of pop by storm as a solo artist.

But while the songstress has everything it takes to be the next Kesha or Katy Perry, Bebe wants it to be known that she has zero plans of dying her hair a candy colored hue or squirting whipped cream from her bra.

“I’m tired of all the candy sh--, you know? It’s not real,” the singer told MTV News. "We don’t walk around wearing candy stuff all day or colorful stuff. It’s like, I walk around wearing black. I just want to be a little more real, maybe I’m a little bit darker than others."

In her new music video for "I Can't Stop Drinking About You," which dropped on Tuesday (August 12), the New York native takes a more "f--ked up" approach, drawing inspiration from Angelina Jolie's "Girl, Interrupted" and Kirsten Dunst's "Melancholia."

"I’m very obsessed with not being perfect," she said. "It has a lot of slow-motion in it, some underwater scenes that took a day to do and I like swallowed a whole bunch of water, and the chlorine burned my nose and they told me to shut up and go back into the pool and my lashes were coming off and the makeup artist was, like, yelling at me like, ‘gosh, your lashes are falling off.’”

Although she channeled some of Hollywood's A-list for the visuals, we can thank a past breakup for the track.

“I just wrote it about a guy who didn’t know if he wanted to be with me or his ex, so he told me that he couldn’t be with me because he didn’t want to make a mistake," she explained. "So he treated me like an option, so I left him like a choice.”

The lyrics came to her while drowning her sorrows with some shots and a round or two on the mechanical bull at Johnny Utah's (because where else would you mourn a split?). When her ex called to apologize for what he had said, Bebe (possibly a few drinks in) had some choice words for him and voila: a song was born.

"He actually called me to back pedal and to say he was sorry for all of the things he said to me and then I just told him to eff himself and that I was drinking about him," she said. "I went back into the bar and then I was like, ‘oh, that’s a really good song title.’ So I texted it to myself and then ‘I Can’t Stop Drinking About You’ came to life.”
