Justin Bieber Readies Second Single 'Lonely Girl'

By Joel Hanek

I remember when I was 15 years old and life was great. I would hang out with my friends, play video games and then Usher would call me on my cell. After that, I'd record a hit album and go on the road for months instead of being stuck in a classroom in Canada. Oh wait, was that Justin Bieber and not me? Actually, now that I think about it, it was Justin Bieber. Drats.

The inevitable seems to be happening: Canadian teen sensation Justin Bieber is taking over America one teenage girl's heart at a time. After his massive head of swirled hair was discovered on YouTube, Bieber has been everywhere from "It's On with Alexa Chung" to the 2009 VMAs red carpet. And now, Bieber is getting ready to launch his follow-up single, "Lonely Girl," a down tempo relationship ballad and the follow-up to his debut smash "One Time."

"I think it's really important these girls have something so they can be one less lonely girl," Bieber explained of the song's meaning. Bieber also told MTV News that he had recently wrapped up shooting the video for "Lonely Girl" in Nashville. "I actually shot [the video] with Roman White, who directed 'You Belong With Me' by Taylor Swift. It's going to be a lot of fun."

Bieber joked that "Lonely Girl" wasn't always the first choice for his second single. "It was either between that or 'I Love High School.' It's a remix of [Asher Roth's] 'I Love College.'" He even sang a few bars of the faux-single: "I love high school, hey! I love calculus, hey!" While there's no word yet if there is a developing academia-themed musical feud between the artists, Justin Bieber says you can expect "Lonely Girl" soon.
