Freddie Gibbs' Split From Young Jeezy's CTE Label Was Not Personal

'It was nothing against him,' Gangsta Gibbs says of leaving the Snowman.

On paper, a Young Jeezy and Freddie Gibbs pairing looked like a match made in gangsta rap heaven, but the street dream is no longer for the two rappers.

Gibbs phoned into Power 105's Breakfast Club in New York to announce that he has parted ways with the Snowman's CTE record label on Tuesday (December 11). "It was a mutual decision," the Gary, Indiana, MC said.

The pair first [article id="1661767"]hooked up[/article] in April 2011, and at first, it seemed that Jeezy's street-centric label would be the perfect fit for Gangsta Gibbs, but it's been coming on two years since the deal and the union didn't flourish as many fans had hoped. The Baby Face Killa didn't get into specifics about the split, but it doesn't seem that he is holding any hard feelings against the Thug Motivator. "It was a number of things; at the end of the day, it was a good decision for myself and my family," he explained. "It was nothing against him; it was just a move that I had to make personally and business wise."

Never one to sit back, Fred revealed that he already has a new deal in the works. "I'm not one of those guys that'll sit back and be bitter. This don't define me," he said. "This is a move that I gotta make in my career. Ya know players traded from teams all the time to go to different teams and win championships."

MTV News caught up with Jeezy and Gibbs in June on the red carpet for the BET Awards in Los Angeles and Young assured us that he and Fred were working toward an official debut album. "As soon as possible, we workin' right now," he assured. "I got him workin' three stoves at one time. We whippin'."

In September, Gibbs went on to drop his Baby Face Killa mixtape with DJ Drama. Young Jeezy, Pharrell Williams, Jadakiss, Jay Rock and Curren$y all were featured on the project, and as for Gibb's next move, we'll just have to wait and see.
