Tamar Counts Down Buzzworthy's Top 5 Videos Of 2009 -- Number 5: Katy Perry, 'Waking Up In Vegas' & Number 4: Fall Out Boy, 'What A Catch, Donnie'

With the curtain pulled back on my fifth and fourth favorite songs of the year, it's time now to take a look back at Buzzworthy's Top 5 Videos of 2009.

+ Number 5: Katy Perry, "Waking Up In Vegas"

Katy Perry's "Waking Up In Vegas" video wasn't just a look at a night in Vegas gone wrong. It was also a celebration of the video as an art form. Katy and director Joseph Kahn pulled out all of the stops in this over-the-top narrative romp. Sequined Bob Mackie costumes, a money-blowing machine (want!), celeb cameos, A LIVE ELEPHANT, a parade, glam, glitz and poker chips only add to the video's "What happens in Vegas happens" storyline. And did I mention sequins? I did, didn't I?

+ Number 4: Fall Out Boy, "What A Catch, Donnie"

Metaphors for loneliness and isolation ooze out of Fall Out Boy's no-man-is-an-island/ I'm-an-open-boat sinking ship of a video for "What A Catch, Donnie," which could also easily serve as Fall Out Boy's swan song. (The band didn't say they're breaking up, but they didn't exactly say they're NOT breaking up.) The "What A Catch, Donnie" video, directed by Alan Ferguson, feels more like a short film than a video, with Hemingway undertones, Decemberists seafaring brushstrokes, Elton John/ Superchunk vocals (not to mention, real, actual vocals from Elvis Costello), Fall Out Boy self-referencing, and a picture-perfect S.O.S., "With a Little Help from My Friends" ending, complete with the Decaydance family.
