Mya Explains Waking Up In Time For New Video

R&B siren Mya just finished the video for her new single, "My First Night with You," a clip which includes an appearance by rapper Saafir, whom audiences may recognize from his small role as "Harold" in 1993's "Menace II Society.

The song was co-written by Babyface and Diane Warren, and in the video, Mya tries to convince her father that her date is a good guy before they head out for a big night on the town. The whirlwind evening concludes with Mya and her beau falling asleep on a beach.

To paraphrase the Everly Brothers, what are they gonna tell their mamas? What are they gonna tell their pops? Mya explained what happens next during a recent sit-down with MTV News.

[article id="1448479"]"Well, we have to get home the next morning,"[/article] she described, [article id="1448479"]"and we wake up, not realizing, oh my gosh, they're going to think that something happened. So we rush home and I climb through my bedroom window really scared, through

a ladder. I make it, and my dad comes in the room and I'm coming out of the bathroom [so he thinks I've just woken up]." [28.8 RealVideo][/article]

Mya is currently working on a follow up to her self-titled debut, and the new record is tentatively due out by year's end.
