Barenaked Ladies To Launch Tour, New LP
MTV News Online
Canadian pop-rock group Barenaked Ladies will launch the first leg of an extensive U.S. tour on Sept. 22 in Detroit, to support their upcoming album, Maroon.
The follow-up to 1998's quadruple-platinum Stunt is scheduled for release Sept. 12, and its first single, "Pinch Me," was shipped to radio last week. Fans can head to the band's official Web site (www.bnlmusic.com) to hear the single along with another new song, "Falling for the First," in full-length streaming audio. A new track will be added each week until the album's release.
The band is also set to debut the video for "Pinch Me," shot recently in Culver City, Calif., by director Phil Harder. Harder directed the band's video for "Get in Line", from the soundtrack for the television show "King of the Hill," as well as the videos for Foo Fighters' "Next Year" and Incubus' "Stellar." The new video features a cameo appearance by "Will & Grace" actor (and fellow Canadian) Eric McCormack.
The tour is expected to stretch well into 2001; so far, only a partial list of dates in September and October has been announced.
