AM died August 28, 2009 in his NYC apartment. According to, the medical examiner deemed AM's death as an accidental overdose.

About a month before his death, AM told MTV News, "Part of me feels like, 'Who am I?' I’m a DJ. This is my one chance. I owe it as a human who’s sober to say something to them. So that's my job. That's what I'm there for.” He was describing why he wanted to do the MTV show "Gone Too Far," a substance-abuse intervention TV show.

The duo were the official house band at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, and they straight-up slayed.
