Guillermo Del Toro's 'inSANE' To Become Full Trilogy For THQ

THQ's pledge to announce their new Volition-made Guillermo del Toro game at the VGA's over the weekend resulted in a teaser bearing the title "inSANE" and the year 2013. Previously, THQ had been sheepish about publicly associating themselves with del Toro, but that's all changed now, and they've even confirmed that "inSANE" will become a full trilogy.

"With this new series of video games, I want to take players to a place they have never seen before, where every single action makes them question their own senses of morality and reality," del Toro said in a press release. "THQ and Volition, Inc. are equally excited to make this vision of a completely new game universe into a reality."

So don't plan on seeing THQ make anymore bashful statements about their partnership with the Oscar-winning "Pan's Labyrinth" director. In fact, according to THQ executive VP, core games Danny Bilson, they love him and he's part of the company's master plan.

"THQ is committed to creating great games by identifying the world's most talented artists and providing them with the creative support to design innovative game play experiences," Bilson added. "Guillermo is not only an incredibly gifted writer and film director, but also an avid gamer, and we are excited to bring his talents to our medium. We are confident his unique point of view will create visually stunning adventures, filled with rich and rewarding game play."

Del Toro definitely brings a name and body of work to the table that THQ would be hard-pressed to find elsewhere, and I'd love to see him break new ground in gaming. Nevertheless, here's hoping they don't face the same pitfalls that Steven Spielberg and EA ran into with "LMNO."

How smooth do you expect del Toro's transition into games to be? Do you think he'll be able to replicate his successes in the world of film? Share your predictions with us in the comment section below.
