Just days after news broke about the end of her 11-month marriage to producer Dot Da Genius, Jhené Aiko has debuted a song that seemingly addresses her tumultuous love life.

Billed as a “rough demo,” “New Balance” is a pensive, piano-laden track that finds Aiko singing about a new lover who changes her perspective on life. “It hit me like a tidal wave / Knew that I was in love with you right away / Turned all my days into brighter days / Even when people say what we do is not OK,” the 28-year-old sings.

As for the inspiration behind the song, rumors have been swirling that it references Aiko’s alleged relationship with her Twenty88 collaborator Big Sean. Prior to the song’s release, she shared the lyrics on Twitter and Tumblr, prompting Sean to encourage her to release it.

Adding fuel to the fire, Aiko tweeted three heart emojis to a fan who said she “wrote @BigSean the most beautiful love song.” HMMM ... sounds like she and Sean may have found “new balance” together after all.
