[article id="1650123"]TJ Lavin[/article] is out of the hospital and resting at his Las Vegas home, one month after the BMX star -- and host of MTV's "The Challenge" -- was seriously injured while attempting a bike stunt.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Lavin returned home on Friday and is set to begin a program to treat brain injuries at an outpatient facility in Las Vegas.

"He is now walking, talking, eating on his own and is getting his sense of humor back. He has some eye issues and balance issues, but as the swelling goes down, we hope they will go away," Lavin's mother, Barbara, told the newspaper. "[The hospital] were able in just two weeks to get him rehabilitated enough to go home ... [He's] crawled out of a deep hole."

Lavin was hospitalized in critical condition on October 14 after losing control of his bike on a dirt course at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, and doctors placed him in a medically induced coma to reduce swelling of his brain. He also shattered his wrist, broke several ribs and fractured an orbital bone in the crash. After a touch-and-go few weeks, Lavin's condition gradually improved, and on October 26, his business partner [article id="1650904"]Chas Aday told MTV News[/article] that the BMX star was conscious, talking and answering questions, and that doctors expected him to make a full recovery.

While Lavin healed, [article id="1650523"]the cast of "The Challenge" sent well wishes[/article] to him. Meanwhile, on December 3, Lavin's close friend Dana White, president of mixed-martial-arts organization UFC, will host a benefit for him at the Hard Rock's Vanity nightclub.

Lavin's mother told the Review-Journal that the support of his friends and family have helped him battle back from the brink and that, though her son still has a ways to go, she can already see him returning to his old self.

"He's starting to get his personality back. He's inappropriately funny, kind of 'Rain Man-ish,' " she said. "We would like to thank the EMTs, doctors, nurses and therapists who have worked so hard and taken such great care of him."
