Sugar Ray, Ben Harper To Play Bumbershoot Festival
Rock artists Sugar Ray and
COLOR="#003163">Ben Harper, indie punk darlings
COLOR="#003163">Sleater-Kinney, and singer/songwriters
Ani DiFranco and
COLOR="#003163">Tracy Chapman are among the hundreds of
acts scheduled to play this year's Bumbershoot festival, Sept. 1–4 in
Seattle.
Officially titled the Seattle Arts Festival, Bumbershoot will celebrate its 30th
anniversary with eclectic musical performances from those and other artists,
including world-music acts Ladysmith Black
Mambazo, Zap Mama
and Compay Segundo.
The acclaimed festival, which is expected to draw more than 200,000 people,
will be held at the 74-acre Seattle Center on more than 25 indoor and outdoor
stages. In addition to music, Bumbershoot will feature dance, film, comedy and
literary and culinary presentations.
In recent years, the festival has featured performances from such rock groups
as the Presidents of the United States of
America, Foo Fighters,
Sonic Youth and
COLOR="#003163">Los Lobos, along with international acts such
as Oliver Mutukudzi,
COLOR="#003163">Angelique Kidjo and
COLOR="#003163">Les Tetes Brulees.

Tickets — $12 per day or $36 for four days when purchased in advance
— will go on sale July 14.
