TVLine initially broke the news in late January that Joseph was in final negotiations for the much-talked about role. Deadline confirmed the news today, adding that the Welsh actor beat out more than 100 actors for the villainous role. When can we expect Klaus to begin wreaking havoc in Mystic Falls? TVLine's Michael Ausiello spilled that Joseph will make his debut on the April 21 episode. Does that seem super far away to anyone else?

The 30-year-old is a relative unknown, having had small parts in "Alexander" and "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World."
