Everlast Progresses On New Album

Follow-up to Whitey Ford Sings the Blues is expected in October.

Hip-hop balladeer Everlast has recorded a "solid chunk" of his next solo album, which is expected to be released in October, according to Max Nichols, his A&R representative at Tommy Boy Records.

The as-yet-untitled album will be a "logical progression" from Everlast's breakthrough solo album, 1998's Whitey Ford Sings the Blues, Nichols said. That album, which combined folk, hip-hop and rock influences, included the hit single "What It's Like" (RealAudio excerpt).

The production team of Dante Ross and John Gamble (3rd Bass, Brand Nubian), who worked on Whitey Ford, are producing the new album, according to Nichols.

Everlast (born Erik Schrody) was among the guests on Santana's blockbuster album Supernatural, contributing the track "Put Your Lights On" (RealAudio excerpt).

That song also was included on Today, a five-song EP Everlast released in November.

Everlast is a former member of the hip-hop group House of Pain, whose hits included "Jump Around."
