Oasis Discusses New Members, Shoots Second Video
After ripping through a series of holiday radio festivals in Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, and Los Angeles, the rock and roll bad boys of Oasis have returned home for a little Yuletide break.
Oasis will issue its fourth studio LP, "Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants," on February 29, and plan to launch a nine-month world tour, tentatively scheduled to begin in Japan that same month.
The recent U.S. gigs also gave Oasis a chance to break-in both its new guitarist, Gem (from Heavy Stereo), and its new bassist, Andy Bell (formerly of Ride and Hurricane #1), after losing founding members Paul McGuigan and Paul Arthurs in August. In a backstage interview conducted at the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas, brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher talked with MTV News about what Andy Bell and Gem have brought to Oasis.[article id="1448907"]"They're just top, man,"[/article] Liam said. [article id="1448907"]"No disrespect to the other two, but I thinkthey're better musicians. You know, s**t happen and all that, but I just think that it's good to have two new people about. They're good players, man." [RealVideo][/article]
[article id="1448909"]"I believe that somehow we must be blessed,"[/article] Noel said of his new bandmates, [article id="1448909"]"because we found the two perfect people for the band. I thought maybe if we get a good guitarist and a bass player that's OK, we could probably wing it for a while. But we found just the perfect two people to join the band,"[/article] he continued. [article id="1448909"]"They've fitted in quite perfectly. It's quite unbelievable. In a way it seems like we've been together for 10 years, but it also seems like we've still got the freshness of a brand new band."
