Twisted Sister Reject Baseball's Rocker
Eighties makeup-metal band asks embattled pitcher's team to stop using its music.
Eighties makeup metal band Twisted Sister have asked the Atlanta
Braves to stop using their song "I Wanna Rock" as the theme for embattled
relief pitcher John Rocker, following the athlete's racially charged
comments to Sports Illustrated in December, the band's representatives
confirmed. Rocker was quoted making racist and homophobic statements in
the magazine, comments for which he has since apologized; the pitcher was
ordered to undergo psychiatric testing. "We don't want our music to be
connected in any way with John Rocker," former guitarist and manager Jay
Jay French said in a statement. "All five of us are the children of
immigrants, so we find Rocker's tirade against 'foreigners' to be particularly
offensive."
