These past few months have been pretty superior for Spider-Man. For those of you who aren't up speed, writer Dan Slott has placed the mind of Doctor Otto Octavius—a.k.a. Doctor Octopus—into Peter Parker's body within the pages of Marvel's "Superior Spider-Man.". Now, as if that weren't exciting enough, Slott will be re-introducing a fan-favorite futuristic character: Miguel O'Hara, a.k.a. Spider-Man 2099.

Making his big comeback in issue #17 of "Superior Spider-Man," Miguel O'Hara had another brush with fame following "Spider-Man 2099's" cancellation way back in 1996. Following the end of Fox's successful—and long-running—"Spider-Man" cartoon, they looked to 2099 for inspiration.

In 1999, Fox Studios had plans to develop a Spider-Man 2099 cartoon but shelved that idea in favor of "Spider-Man Unlimited." The reasoning being that Spider-Man 2099 simply did not have enough connection to the main supporting characters of the original "Spider-Man" animated series. With that, "Spider-Man Unlimited" was born. Starring Peter Parker as the newly-improved Spider-Man, the series takes place on Counter-Earth—a futuristic dystopian society quite unlike our own.

The series was a moderate success at the time of its initial release, although it was overshadowed by the immensely popular "Pokemon" and "Digimon" TV series. With a highly-advanced nanite-infused Spider-Man suit and alternate reality takes on classic Marvel characters, "Spider-Man Unlimited" is a totally different type of Marvel animated series and absolutely worth checking out.

Worlds Apart

This two part episode sees Peter Parker hitching a ride aboard John Jameson's spaceship as he's launched on a one man mission to Counter-Earth. Unbeknownst to either of them, the symbiotes Venom and Carnage have also tagged along under the order of a mysterious being known as the Synoptic.

Where Evil Nests

Spider-Man teams up with the heroic version of the Green Goblin that exists on Counter-Earth in an attempt to rescue a kidnapped Dr. Naoko Yamada-Jones and stop a dangerous green Bio-Mass created by Venom and Carnage.

Steel Cold Heart

Guest starring X-51, better known as Machine Man, the High Evolutionary responsible for the Beastial hybrids of Counter-Earth shuns his android creation after X-51 refuses to harm innocent people. As a result, the machine man decides to join the rebellion formed in opposition of the High Evolutionary.

Ill-Met By Moonlight

After John Jameson is transformed into the lycanthrope known as Man-Wolf, Spider-Man must break into a power plant owned by the High Evolutionary in order to find a cure for his friend. However, in order to find the cure, he must first battle an electric eel Beastial that is the Counter-Earth version of Electro.

Destiny Unleashed

Venom and Carnage finally reveal that they are working for the Synoptic, who is allied with the High Evolutionary, with the intentions of releasing symbiotes on the entirety of the Counter-Earth population. Spider-Man, John Jameson, X-51, Green Goblin, and the rebellion must all team-up to put a stop to the High Evolutionary and the dastardly symbiotes before they take over all of Counter-Earth.
