Doors, Hendrix Estate Battle Bootleg

Distribution of 1968 Jim Morrison/Jimi Hendrix jam recording halted.

The remaining members of rock legends the Doors were consulted by the Jimi Hendrix estate to help battle the distribution of a bootleg recording of late Doors frontman Jim Morrison singing with Hendrix, according to Doors manager Danny Sugerman. Billed as a 1968 performance at the Scene, in New York, the bootleg — known as "Woke Up This Morning and Found Myself Dead" — highlights an audibly inebriated Morrison singing off-color lyrics on a raw Hendrix blues jam. The bootleg claims the jam also features blues-rock guitarist Johnny Winter. Sugerman said the Hendrix estate "found [the bootleggers], and they got the tape, and they're burning it."
