$56.5 million, respectively -- but the Spice Girls were the most powerful music

group last year, and the sixth overall most powerful celebrities, according to

Forbes magazine. The business magazine's "Celebrity 100" index, published in

its March 22 issue, is based on a combination of earnings and media exposure. Other

musicians to make the list included Canadian chanteuse Celine Dion (#9), the

Stones (#10), country superstar Garth Brooks (#14), rapper/actor Will

Smith (#20), hip-hop entrepreneur Master P (#26) and metal band

Metallica (#41). The most powerful celebrity, according to Forbes, is

basketball player Michael Jordan.
