Queers' O'Neill Dead From Cancer

After a yearlong bout with brain cancer, Queers drummer Hugh O'Neill

died Jan. 21, according to a Lookout Records spokesperson. O'Neill, who was 41, first

appeared on the Queers' 1993 disc Love Songs for the Retarded and performed

on three of the Ramones-style punk band's albums, including much of which is

considered by many fans to be the group's best work, such as 1996's Don't Back

Down. Later Days and Better Lays, an album of unreleased tracks featuring O'Neill,

is set for release March 23.
